According to Case-Shillers' home price index, the home prices in the Tampa Bay area appear to have steadied themselves. Although the home prices have fallen 20.8% in a yearly comparison, on a month to month comparison, the home prices have remained relatively flat. The numbers that are reported by the Case-Shiller's home price index is considered to be a reliable source, as they measure the repeat sales of individual homes.
Foreclosures also appear to be stabilizing in the state of Florida, according to the Associated Press' monthly analysis of economic stress index. These two factors could very well mean that the worst of the housing slump is indeed behind us, here in Florida.
