Charles Canady, Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice, has discontinued the program that required mandatory foreclosure mediation yesterday.
The program was originally created in an effort to "speed up" the foreclosure process and to easy the pressure on the court system, however, Canady said that reports suggested that the program did not work as well as was hoped and the courts could no longer justify the program.
Foreclosures that are alreay in the mediation process will continue to work through the system, however, new foreclosure cases will not be referred to mediation.
