For Sale By Owners are Becoming Rare

According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), for-sale-by-owners (FSBO) have dropped to the lowest level seen over the last year. FSBO sellers only make up 11% of the market, down 2% since 2009.
Real estate transactions are becoming more complex and in some cases too difficult for an unrepresented seller to benefit. While FSBO sellers once were able to save commission costs, in todays market they are finding that by not using an agent, it will more than likely cost them more money in the long run. In some cases FSBO sellers make the mistake of listing their home at a much higher price than the market warrants, and while they may find a buyer, once the home is appraised the deal could fall apart.
